American Heart Association CPR and First Aide Classes

Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare professionals trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality CPR, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.  

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
• Important early use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

• Optional modules in Child CPR AED and Infant CPR

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

• Child CPR and AED (Optional)

This option allows the student seeking BLS CPR certification to do an online course through the AHA first.  The AHA charges $38 for the online course. We charge $30 for the hands-on skills check. 

After completing the online portion of this course, you must complete a hands-on session (sold separately) with an AHA Training Center to obtain a course completion card. 

Students can then schedule a time with us to come by our station at 11984 US Hwy 87 W , in La Vernia, to do the required skills for their CPR Card.

Time to complete the hands-on skills session varies from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the experience of the student.

ACLS and PALS are offered as in-person or blended learning. Please call or email so we can find out what works best for you! If you hold a current ACLS or PALS card, you will register for a renewal course.  If you have never held the certification or your card has expired, you will need an initial course.
