Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare professionals trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality CPR, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.
The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.
The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.
This option allows the student seeking BLS CPR certification to do an online course through the AHA first. After completing the online portion of this course, you must complete a hands-on session (sold separately) with an AHA Training Center to obtain a course completion card.
Students can then schedule a time with us to come by our station at 11984 US Hwy 87 W , in La Vernia, to do the required skills for their CPR Card.
Time to complete the hands-on skills session varies from 60 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the experience of the student.
Below is the link to the online course, which must be completed prior to registering with WCESD #3 Training Academy to do the Skills Check!
